Autumn Sky Ranch: Ranch Dog

Autumn Sky Ranch: Ranch Dog

Ranch Dog

One of our dogs is an Aussie, or Australian Shepherd to be more formal. ? I was told she is from a line of working dogs, not the more fluffy show dog type that I often see. ? She is busy busy busy. ? It's just a shame we don't have animals that need to be tended or herded. ? When she was a puppy, she was a lunatic. ? No other word for it. ? I wasn't sure I could be her only companion so I brought home another puppy. ? He is an Aussie/Golden cross. ? He is much calmer and has to endure being the target of her natural herding instincts. ? She is smarter than any dog I've ever had. ? You might fool her once but you will NEVER fool her twice. ? She anticipates, strategizes, keep track of every one and every thing, and tries to stay a step ahead of the pack at all times. ? But she will collapse into a sweet submissive dog for attention and petting, hoping you will stay there with her all day. ? When she wants attention, she will bump your leg with her pointy nose. ? Over and over and over, until you reach down and pet her. ? Loving and loyal forever.

Erik came into our lives and nicknamed her The Bullet. ? As with herding dogs, she can go from your side, head out to the back of the property, turn and make it back to your side....lickety split. ? She is loyal to us and to our property. ? She barks too much but does her best to keep critters and garbage trucks away from our place. ? She smiles. ? The groomers love her because of her sweet nature...and her smile. ? And now she has taken up howling. ? When the donkeys holler out, she howls along with them. ??

This is our sweet and busy girl. ? We love her very much.
